Not much work done in the last week. I've been swapping out dark red technic pins and 1x1 clips with black ones. Almost done with that. Still waiting on parts to come in. Also need more funds so click through some ads on this page or buy some parts from my bricklink page here: http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=furling

It looks better in black

This is what it looks like with most of the bright red pins replaced with black pins. While none of them will be seen when the model is done, it still bothered me.

More work

Here are pictures with both the top wing panels in place. Both sides now have added grill tiles.

Close up of the three 2 x 3 plates that hold the top panels to the main frame from the top

Same idea on the other side:

This is the begining of the top center panel. This piece will hold the second half of my modified section that will cover up the gaping hole in the front center of the ship. I won't be able to finish this part until some more parts arrive but enough of it will be done to be able to put it on the model.

At this point I'm waiting on black pins with bushings and black 1 x 1 modified tile clips. The dark red ones look good, but the black / dark blue combo looks better so I'm going to try to replace all the red/ dark red parts except for the engine tiles, which still look cool.

After a nasty bout of food poisoning (probably due to some chicken McNuggets) I slept away most of the morning, then woke up full of energy and cranked out a bunch of work on this massive Lego monster. This model weighs a lot now. It is getting to be a pain in the ass flipping it over all the time. Lucky for me I finished all the bottom parts this afternoon and I'm just waiting on some more hoses to finish the last of the landing gear. Here's what I did today:

The beginnings of the entry ramp:

That red part you see is not available in black or any dark color :(

Ran out of black connectors so I threw in a dark red one. I like the way it looks:

This is the beginning of the top and bottom gun turrets:

These parts make up the rim of the turrets:

Bottom turret attached:

Now for the rear bottom plating. Again, the 8L door rail not available in black, but it will hardly be seen in the end:

And now attached to the rest of the ship:

Small plating sections:

Here are some pictures of the bottom of the model with all bottom parts done except for 1 landing gear:

Can you find the one red pin I exchanged with a black pin?

Now I'm starting the top hull plating sections:

This is what it looked like before I added a bunch of grill tiles.

And now it looks much better with more grill tiles.
